I Can’t Believe I Won – by James Dinh 3/4C

Once, there was a poor family who had no money and had to get their food from rubbish bins. One day Leon and his father (from the poor family) were on a walk and Leon saw a farm. A sign said it was a camp. He asked his father if he could stay in the camp for a few years, his father said ‘Yes’. ‘Thank you’ said Leon When Leon was packed he went to the farm and he headed right to the head farmer. When Leon saw the head farmer he was on the phone and he didn’t want to distract him, so he waited on the chair next to him. When the head farmer was done he screamed ‘Ahhhhhhh’ because he turned around and he saw Leon right in front of him. When the head farmer calmed down, he asked who Leon was and Leon was asked a lot more questions. When he was done, the head farmer showed Leon to his shed. When he saw his shed, he was surprised because it was so different to his home (in a dump). When Leon woke up the next day he realised that a cat was sleeping on his face, so he pushed the cat off and he went to get changed. (He dosen’t brush his teeth because he didn’t have a toothbrush)

When he got changed, he saw a sign stuck to the wall, it said ‘Cow Competition – if you would like to raise a cow please come to the shed where the hay is stored’

Leon got excited about the Cow Competition. When Leon got to the shed everyone was already there. After Leon waited a while the head farmer told everyone to line-up to get a cow. When it was Leon’s turn there was one cow left, it was the weakest and smallest cow. Leon took him anyway because he figured that the cow was not so different to him. Leon named him James. The next day Leon had to brand James. When he got the branding pole out James screamed, so Leon made a hanging sign using a piece of wood and some rope, then branded the sign and the sign hung from James’s neck. After he branded the sign, Leon started to train James to eat healthy foods. A few years later, James became a big strong cow. Then suddenly the head farmer came into Leon’s shed and said ‘Leon come with James to the shed where the hay is stored’. When Leon got to the shed he saw everyone with their big strong cows. After Leon waited a while, the head farmer said loudly ‘The Judge is me, you must show me how strong your cow is’. When it was Leon’s turn he found out that his cow was the strongest of all of them and he won the prize, One Billion Dollars. Then Leon shouted ‘I can’t believe I won!’ When it was the end of camp, Leon got home with James and his prize and lived happily ever after.
